As the end of summer approaches the Midwest continues to offer festive events to finish this hot season on a happy note. From the art festivals in Chicago to occasions in Wisconsin, the exciting gatherings continue.

The Milwaukee Art Museum will be hosting a fun filled summer night of music, culture, art and fun on Friday August 19th, 2011, from 5 to midnight. Food and beverage is free with admission, but only while supplies last. I can definitely guarantee they will go fast, so make sure to get there early! This portion of the night will start at 6 and conclude around 8pm.

From 8-10:30 pm, the night will feature a lively music set by Milwaukee’s hottest bluegrass band, Pike Creek. http://www.pikecreek.net/

From 5-11pm there will be a fun DIY Studio open house where couples and families to explore their creative sides and make awesome pieces of take home art! Also Café Calatrava will be offering a cash bar loaded with some savory BBQ pieces, while 88nine radio Milwaukee spins to the beat of an exuberant summer. The Emperor’s Private Paradise: Treasures from the Forbidden City will be on view, and will be your last chance to see this exhibit after dark. Wander through ancient, ceremonial and never-before-seen artifacts of the Emperor whom ruled China ages ago.
