At Ragdale visual artists, writers, composers + interdisciplinary artists find time + space to create important new work. Throughout the year Ragdale offers readings, artist lectures, workshops, + events designed to connect artists + the community of Lake Forest, Chicago + beyond. The Ragdale House, designed as the summer home of Arts and Crafts architect Howard Van Doren Shaw, is one of the most complete examples of a turn-of-the-century retreat. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places it recently underwent a $3 million renovation in 2011. Through a competitive application process, Ragdale offers residencies to visual artists, writers, composers + interdisciplinary artists. Those working in sound, performance, choreography, or combinations of disciplines may apply under the Interdisciplinary category . |
