CGN has been supporting the art community in print since 1982. What began as a four-page black and white guide to openings is now a multi-issue publication and digital platform. We are always building on CGN’s foundation as a keeper of the city’s art history, a voice for members of the art world and an unparalleled resource for those who actively collect and explore art in Chicago and beyond.
A locally-based, independent, woman-owned publication, CGN's small, dedicated team operates with a focus on engaging readers with the arts. We aim to open doors and invite the public into this fascinating creative world.
CGN consists of 3 print editions x year and chicagogallerynews.com. CGN helps both galleries, museums and the public in key ways:
- CGN’s unique interviews with top art dealers, artists, and collectors advance our mission of sustaining and promoting accessible and thriving arts communities by sharing a range of collecting experiences as well as art making approaches.
- By centralizing much of the local art world's information within CGN, from districts to specialties to events, we assist individual arts businesses and organizations with their marketing reach and cross pollinate art collecting and access across multiple channels, creating a vibrant picture of a multifaceted and diverse art scene.
- CGN's unique Arts Listings and events calendar are valuable and comprehensive resources for going out and navigating the depth of the region's culture.
