The Art Institute of Chicago is open on Wednesdays again, starting next week, March 5. Now, the museum will offer access to its expansive collection and landmark exhibitions six days a week. It is still closed on Tuesdays.

“The Art Institute is proud to be part of the thriving cultural community in downtown Chicago,” said James Rondeau President and Eloise W. Martin Director of the Art Institute of Chicago. “Our updated schedule demonstrates the museum’s commitment to making our iconic collection more accessible to the city’s residents and visitors from around the world.”

The new schedule coincides with the final days of 2025 Free Winter Weekdays, sponsored by Health Care Service Corporate (HCSC), allowing Illinois residents to visit the museum for free on Wednesdays, March 5, and March 12. Free Winter Weekdays offers Illinois residents free admission every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday—all day long until March 14.

So if you find yourself in a mid-week slump, you now can stop into the Art Institute to lift your spirits and your mind.
