Hindman’s spring American and European Art auction will be conducted on May 23 at 10am CST. Notable highlights include Henry Lebasque, Pablo Picasso, George Ault, Andrew Wyeth, Edward Payne, and John Leslie Breck.
The auction features Abstract Composition (1920) by Pablo Picasso, a work on paper from the estate of Billie Ross and is valued at $200,000 - $400,000. Additional highlights include Andrew Wyeth’s The Clammer ($15,000 – $25,000), a previously undocumented work. The piece will be included in Betsy James Wyeth’s forthcoming catalogue raisonné. Also for sale is a wonderful example of George Ault’s time spent in New York City titled, Morning in Brooklyn ($60,000 – $80,000).The artist’s work has shown strong results at Hindman in the past, previously selling for $372,000 (estimated at $40,000 – $60,000) in Hindman’s December American and European Art auction. A landscape painting by American Impressionist John Leslie Breck, titled Haystacks, will be offered with an estimate at $30,000 – $50,000. Breck studied under Monet at the artist’s home in Giverny and often found inspiration in the works of Impressionist painters.
