Continuing the series of conversations with prominent architects in tribute and thanks to the bequest of Don Powell, we welcome Vishaan Chakrabarti in conversation with New York Magazine critic Justin Davidson. Founder and Creative Director of Practice for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU), Chakrabarti (previously a principal at major architecture firms including SHoP Architects and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill) has over thirty years of experience authoring and implementing visionary urban architecture.

Current projects of note include the expansion of the I.M. Pei-designed Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, the planning and redevelopment strategy for 25 parcels in downtown Niagara Falls, and the conversion of the historic Domino Sugar Factory on Brooklyn’s waterfront into a contemporary office building. Chakrabarti is the author of the book A Country of Cities: A Manifesto for an Urban America and the upcoming The Architecture of Urbanity: Designing for Nature, Culture, and Joy.
