Building on nearly four decades of fostering creativity, the Cornelia Arts Building is nearing completion on a multi year remodeling effort, with many new artist residents, extensively remodeled common spaces and studios, and more art than ever before. Visitors to the Open House events can meet many of the building’s talented artists and artisans in person, explore their art practices up close, and enjoy the opportunity to purchase artwork and hand-made crafts directly from the people who made them. Visitors are invited to see one of the largest all-artist buildings on Chicago’s North side, and experience two-full floors of working art studios. The extensive remodeling upgrades will more than double the studios from 40 to 85 when remodeling is complete. With one-of-a-kind artwork and special artisan-made gifts by the building artists, the events offer something for the whole family to enjoy. Currently over 65 local artists and artisans work here, including painters, sculptors, photographers, ceramic artists, print-makers, and much more.
