Donnie Nie: Envisaged Potentials

FLXST will be having a joint opening of Donny Nie’s show and the small group show “Quality Control” on Friday, April 7, from 4-7 pm. 

The joint collectors’ preview is Thursday, April 6, from 5-7 pm.

Donny Nie is known for creating expressive paintings and highlighting the raw qualities of each medium she uses. Her art practice explores emotional and psychological states of being. Her use of mixed media and gestural brushwork creates a sense of physical and emotional energy, movement, and dialogues—the latter between her paintings and her sculptural work—that invite viewers to re-imagine the potential of abstraction in the contemporary moment, as both a signifier of postmodernity and a metaphor for surfacing narratives of nonnormative identities.
