Deepen your experience of art and use it to inspire your writing in this ekphrastic poetry workshop led by Shari Wagner, former Indiana Poet Laureate 2016–17. While the Greek term ekphrasis translates simply to a “description” of a thing, ekphrastic poetry offers poets a range of approaches to connect with a work of art in another medium. During the workshop, attendees will be introduced to the ancient art form, look at examples by well-known poets, compose a group poem, and spend time in the Museum galleries composing an individual work.
