Gaze Into My Eyes

For Hilton Asmus's first show of 2019,  the gallery will have their first conceptual show, inspired by artist Marina Abramovic.

The audience is invited to participate in an eye gazing exercise. Each person will sit for 5 minutes and gaze into the eyes of another. 

Afterwards, they receive paper and pencil to write down their thoughts and feelings about the experience. Gallery staff will then collect and exhibit these thoughts and musings. 

Too many people in the world avert their eyes when speaking to someone. Or, if they do look at the other person, they often do not even see who they are looking at. This exercise in concentration will help us to go inward and be more introspective about who we are in the world of other humans, whether it is friends or family or strangers. 

Anyone is invited to participate.
