Hannah Bureau & Sara MacCulloch: Summer Shore

Anne Loucks Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Summer Shore, a new exhibition featuring Hannah Bureau & Sara MacCulloch. The show includes thirty-five landscape and seascape paintings by the artists who recently shared a residency in Maine. 

Sara MacCulloch's paintings capture the rocky coast, fields and vast skies of her home province of Nova Scotia. Executed in a spontaneous, painterly style with muted color and simplified forms, her work evokes a sense of mood and place, capturing the changing light and atmosphere of the Atlantic coast. Hannah Bureau's fresh, meditative paintings reflect her New England coastal surroundings. With a soft, tranquil palette and layers of smooth brushwork, her dreamlike compositions capture the essence of the shoreline in a style that vacillates between abstraction and realism.
