Hyde Park Art Center 2024 Gala

Hyde Park Art Center proudly announces our 2024 Gala on Friday, November 15! 

Co-chaired by Jim Dempsey, Sandhya Mullangi, and Cheryl and Thomas Rudbeck III, the lively event activates the entire building with hands-on art activities, performances, open studios, art auctions, and DJs. The Gala event and dinner runs from 5:30-8:30pm, with an After Party until 11:30pm. 

Come join offering this unique and interactive experience and benefit the art center’s various programs supporting Chicago art and artists!

With a “creative cocktail” dress code, the evening will feature a cocktail party running from 5:30-7:00 p.m., followed by a seated dinner with remarks by Art Center leadership and artists. With a reputation as one of the city’s most “hands-on” art parties, the Gala will feature an after-party in collaboration with Lumpen Radio from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30pm that includes the popular Interactive Artist Interventions, resident artist open studios, performances, DJs, late-night bites, and more. Standalone after-party tickets are $75 and are available on the Art Center’s website.

Interactive Artist Interventions have been one of the highlights of past Art Center Galas, where guests were engaged in inventive interactions such as getting inked by a tattoo artist and eating cake off a wall. The 2024 Gala will feature artist interventions by Kushala Vora with a durational performance for guests to give and take parts of a garment, Gaozhe Max Li with a time-based interactive photo installation Site HPAC for a ritualistic experience of space-making, Kathryn Trumbell Fimreite leading a collective quilt making session Welcome Blanket for refugees in need, Marco Guagnelli with a participatory installationWelcome Home that invites attendants to construct a sense of home via a large scale dress, and Erica Littlejohn with an interactive performance Un/Doingto unravel a large tapestry with gala attendees to uncover an image.
