The Art Center Highland Park will host the Annual In View Art Exhibit, featuring work created by its faculty and members, from December 15th through January 20th, beginning with a reception on Friday, December 15th, free and open to the public from 5:30 till 8:00 PM.
This year The Art Center Highland Park, with over one hundred new members in the last few months, is experiencing the highest participation level in the history of this event, with a record 140 artists showcasing their work. Unless otherwise indicated, all exhibited work is for sale. Profits from sales support both the artists and programming at TAC.
“We encourage the public to attend our opening event on the 15th to support our local artists,” says TAC Executive Director James M. Lynch, adding “What better holiday gift can you find than a unique artwork from the exhibit or from TAC’s gift shop?”
TAC Curator Caren Helene Rudman, herself a much sought after artist, has invited groundbreaking artists from all over the country to TAC and provides challenging, thought-provoking themes that mirror the times we’re living in. “A growing number of artists and audiences are aware of us and we have become a destination with a strong reputation for high-quality exhibits.” She adds, “And the quality of our members and faculty is amazing. We’re always proud to feature them.”
The Art Center Highland Park was founded as the Suburban Fine Art Center in 1960 and has been in its current location at 1957 Sheridan Road for over 20 years, the former home of the American Legion Hall, which it rents from the City of Highland Park. With a budget of just over $1M, TAC offers classes for all ages and skill levels six days a week and maintains four professional-level galleries with art sales rivaling most local for-profit galleries.
Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, from 10 AM to 4 PM, and a percentage of sales go towards programming at this 501C3 not-for-profit organization. TAC also has a gift shop and year-round classes and more information can be found at www.theartcenterhp.org.
During the reception on the evening of December 15th TAC is also asking attendees to bring books (In Spanish, English, and Ukrainian), puzzles, and manipulative toys for children 5 and under. Toys must be new, in original packaging, and unwrapped, and will be delivered to local not-for-profit early learning centers.
