In conjunction with the Insert Coin exhibition at Cleve Carney Museum of Art, enjoy a special screening of the documentary, “Insert Coin,” followed by a panel discussion with key members of Midway Games featured in the documentary. “Insert Coin” is the amazing behind-the-scenes story of the making of Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam and other massive videogame hits. Through intimate and often hilarious interviews, witness how a small, tight-knit group of friends deal with controversies, next level success, and the roller coaster ride that comes with it.
The Insert Coin exhibition at Cleve Carney Museum of Art is currently on view through February 16. The exhibition chronicles the stories behind these games and features behind-the-scenes video, art and ephemera from the making of these games, interviews with former Midway game designers, and the playable games themselves.
Join Cleve Carney Museum of Art and Chicago Gamespace for a special screening of Joshua Tsui's acclaimed documentary INSERT COIN. This film, along with the current exhibition at the Cleve Carney Museum of Art, offers an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at the creation of iconic video games like Mortal Kombat and NBA Jam. Through candid and often humorous interviews, discover the untold and controversial stories behind some of the biggest hits in video game history.
Following the screening, Justin Witte will moderate a lively conversationwith filmmaker Joshua Tsui, and Midway studio art director Jack Haeger.

About the Exhibition:
"INSERT COIN: Inside Midway’s Arcade Revolution" chronicles the meteoric rise, groundbreaking innovations, and the eventual challenges faced by Midway Games. The exhibition will detail how Midway Games grew out of the fierce rivalry between the Williams and Bally companies and how it navigated the rise and fall of gaming, then ushered in the arcade’s renaissance in the 1990s with a golden string of game releases such as NARC, Smash TV, Terminator 2, Cruis’n USA, Mortal Kombat and NBA Jam.

INSERT COIN: Inside Midway’s Arcade Revolution” is organized by Jonathan Kinkley, Owner and Curator, Chicago Gamespace, and Joshua Tsui, Director of Insert Coin and Director of Innovation at DePaul University, in partnership with the Cleve Carney Museum of Art at the College of DuPage, with curatorial assistance by video game historian Ethan Johnson.
