Into the Mystic dances the line of realism and abstraction. Gene Costanza and Christopher Groves employ painterly brushstrokes and vivid colors to create dreamlike landscapes that beg viewers to meander through familiar yet spectacular spaces. Gene Costanza finds inspiration in the coastal waterways and mountain ranges of his surrounding Cascadia, while the work of Christopher Groves sings its praises to his native marshlands and forests. Groves works in the in-between of realism and abstraction, and Costanza borrows from many schools to create his characteristic “ecclesiopressionism.” Into the Mystic encourages exploration through imagination to arrive at newfound perspectives of previously known terrains.
"We’re very excited to start the new year highlighting two incredibly talented and unique artists. Gene Costanza and Christopher Groves are enamored with the beauty and power of nature; however, it’s their differences in style and interpretation that makes them so exciting. We look forward to the journeys we’ll take through their paintings, the memories they’ll bring forward, and the discussions they’ll foster.” - Kitt Richards
This event will be held both in-person and online.
