The Brood XIII cicadas have emerged from their 17-year underground slumber to fill the trees with their vibrating sounds! Inspired by this extraordinary natural phenomenon, Brushwood Center presents our next art exhibition, Metamorphosis: Emerging from the Dark.
This Saturday, June 8 Brushwood invites you to join us for a special Exhibition Opening and Outdoor Concert, where Brushwood Center shares the cicada emergence and Metamorphosis through the lens of Queer Ecology. Queer Ecology invites seeing the queer in nature, from sexuality and gender, to embracing the peculiar. Metamorphosis features the work of over 30 local artists who are exploring their own narratives of emerging from challenging times, overcoming obstacles, and embracing new possibilities with works in painting, photography, mixed media, sculpture, collage, and more.

2:00pm | Windy City Performing Arts Outdoor Concert is inspired by the themes of Metamorphosis. Windy City Performing Arts sings to inspire change, celebrate diversity, and honor the dignity of the LGBTQ+ community.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Inspired by this extraordinary natural phenomenon, Brushwood Center presents Metamorphosis: Emerging from the Dark. As these creatures spread their newfound wings, Metamorphosis features the work of over 30 local artists exploring the themes of transformation, rebirth, and the journey from darkness to light.
