Nicolás Maximillion Jimenez is a self taught artist raised in the violent streets of East Palo Alto, California. Born to a Native American / mixed-race Mexican family, he escaped drugs and violence thru art during a time when his adolescent neighborhood was the murder capital of the U.S.
In discussing his work, Jimenez says, “I’m most inspired by my family. All my work is dedicated to them. My art highlights struggle and it also glimmers with hope. All my work has two sides to it. It’s analog, and digital. It's Religious, and unholy. It’s both danger and yet sometimes designer…”
Chicago Truborn is proud to unveil nearly 40 pieces ranging from originals to textile pieces and mixed media installation work at his debut solo show “Thoughts and Prayers”. This body of work compels the viewer to look into the concept of duality with a touch of dark humor.
