WCA CONFERENCE REIMAGINED
Given the growing concerns around Covid-19 and the Omicron variant, WCA is working to transform WCA’s Occupy the Moment: Embracing Our History, Enhancing Our Impact conference panels, board meeting, and LTA Awards and Gala to virtual formats that will be rolled out during the course of 2022. Dates and details will be coming early in 2022.
WCA’s 50th anniversary exhibitions in Chicago and events at the College Art Association Conference are going forward as planned.
If you have already purchased your conference registration and/or Gala tickets, information about refunds will be available in the coming days. You may consider rolling over your purchase to a year-end donation to support WCA programming over the course of the year.
We invite you to attend “Occupy the Moment, Intersect History with Impact” at Bridgeport Art Center located at 1200 W 35th Street in Chicago. The exhibit opens January 21 with a WCA reception on Friday, February 18, 2022 from 7-10 pm.
The Chicago Chapter’s opening reception of the “Best of Women” exhibition showcasing the work of WCA members is on Thursday, February 17 from 6-9 pm at Stola Contemporary located at 3738 W Irving Park Road, Chicago.
A chartered bus may be made available from CAA at the Chicago Hilton to both exhibition openings. We are working out the details.
CAA’s WCA Business Meeting is open to all WCA members and is featuring a roundtable discussion on the occasion of WCA’s 50th anniversary with WCA President Laura Morrison, President Elect Donna Jackson, Judith Brodsky (WCA Past President 1976–1978), and Ofelia Garcia (WCA Past President 1984–1986). Patti Jordan will chair our WCA/CAA panel “Transhistorical Feminist Agency: A Matter of Gender, Race, Time, and Place”.
We hope you will join us as we work to celebrate WCA’s 50th anniversary all year long! Our anniversary theme “Occupy the Moment: Embracing Our History, Enhancing Our Impact” celebrates our strengths and accomplishments and explores how we are moving to embrace new agendas and support emerging voices going forward.
