The January 25th auction begins with the collection of Mrs. A. Edward Allinson of Palm Beach and Southampton, featuring a collection of paintings and watercolors by American female artists of the first half of the 20th century, including works by Jane Peterson, Margaret Patterson, Eleanor Custis, Rachel Hartley, Lillian Genth and Mary Louise Fairchild. Also from the Allinson collection are pieces of 18th and 19th century Chinese and Japanese lacquer furniture, an Irish Giltwood Convex Mirror, and a set of four English silver figural salts by E & J Barnard of London, 1866. In addition, a large collection of contemporary furniture and decor by Christopher Guy of London will be presented.
The sale also features property from the Palm Beach estate of esteemed interior designer Richard ‘Dick’ Fitzgerald. Mr. Fitzgerald held several editor positions, most prominently at House Beautiful and Architectural Digest, before opening his own design firm in Boston. His signature looks grace many of the grandest homes on the east coast, but he solidified his place in the New England Design Hall of Fame when his own Cape Cod home was featured in Design New England Magazine. His collection features an extensive assortment of Chinese export porcelain and his signature Regency style furniture.
Other consignments include a collection of Syrian inlaid furniture, Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian decorative arts, artworks by Constantin Kluge, Claudio Bravo, Richard Estes, Hunt Slonem and Stephen Scott Young, contemporary furniture by Victoria Hagan and Formations.
