McCaw Contemporary: three individuals, two generations, sixty years of combined, consistent critical acclaim and recognition.
Dan McCaw (b.1942) shares a studio with his sons John McCaw (b.1967) and Danny McCaw (b.1978) in Torrance, California. Here, the three McCaws collectively contribute to each’s individual practice through overlapping (but never duplicated) ideas, explorations, and techniques. Driven by relentless curiosity, the MCCAW vision explores dichotomies of the human experience, utilizing abstraction and romantic impressionism to create unique visions of familiar themes.
Shown alongside one another in “PARADIGM”, the subtle yet distinct shifts in perspective among the three McCaws are evident, as ideas are shared, reinterpreted, and shared once again.
“The MCCAW objective is to (collectively and individually) examine, contemplate and direct a fresh look at contemporary issues such as: the relationship between art and reality, memory and fantasy, symbols and anthropology, existential ideas and human psychology.” -MCCAW Contemporary
