In 2021 printmaker Beth Adler and wood sculptor David Rubman began a playful collaboration based on their shared affinity for bold abstract compositions and patterns. Rubman cut wooden shapes that he incised with his unique textures. Adler took the resulting “blocks” and printed them in various combinations, adding collage, drawing, and sewing.
Parallel Play brings together Adler’s prints and Rubman’s wood constructions, some created individually, some cooperatively--and some through parallel play.
