The Kavanagh Gallery is pleased to present work by twenty-six artists in a new show entitled Sculpture at the Kavanagh.
The one-word title of the show, Sculpture, was chosen deliberately to allow a wide range of media choices and interpretations by artists. The result is a fantastic collection of two, and three-dimensional pieces that will inspire artists and art lovers alike.
One of the most striking pieces is called "Her Beauty Gained Her Everything She had ever Dreamt of. . ." by Michigan based artist Matthew Schellenberg. This seven-foot warrior woman was carved using various woods, including Cherry, Black Walnut, Ash, and Cyprus. The use of multiple kinds of wood has enabled the artist to utilize nature's color palette subtly but effectively. The result is a stunning 3-dimensional statuesque woman, with a surprise element in the back.
Sculpture at the Kavanagh is open Monday - Saturday from 10 am - 5 pm and runs until Saturday, May 8.
Like all shows at the Kavanagh Gallery, admission is free.
