“I'm interested in distilling the often complicated visual structure of plants to a minimalist representation; attempting to create prose from poetry. To do this I shoot in black and white (the removal of color information simplifies, and also transforms the image into a less literal depiction), and compose tightly, isolating basic shapes and geometric forms. In addition, I use color filtration to individually adjust grayscale tones, to create a slightly otherworldly impression.” – Jim Newberry
