Using materials that go through an industrial process such as plastics, rubber and foam, Susan Beiner questions how human creations and technology mold our perceptions of the world. Beiner’s most recent work displays a shift to a more sculptural attitude, concerned with making what is organic into synthetic.

Using nature as a source, participants will create decorative vessels by combining various parts utilizing handbuilding and wheelthrowing. Focus on patterning and unifying layers of imagery to create a sculptural depth of surface. Additional decoration techniques will be demonstrated; color and glaze will be discussed.
