Opening: Friday, Oct 4, 2024 5 – 7 pm
Friday, Oct 4 – 31, 2024

895 Green Bay Road, Winnetka, IL 60093

On Friday, October 4th, we will be having an exhibit opening for featured artist Susan Jacoby's show "Quietude." The opening will run from 5-7 PM and will display Susan's newest work, which is defined by depictions of expansive vistas, shifting skyscapes, and ephemeral atmospheric conditions that evoke the remembrance of a moment, combining observation with imagination. Susan works in many translucent layers of muted colors, creating a sense of serene, untouched nature in her work.

Susan creates work that is influenced by the surrounding nature she experiences both in northern Michigan and suburban Chicago, particularly expansive vistas, shifting skyscapes, and ephemeral atmospheric conditions. Engaging with nature provides her with the language to create her own silent spaces. Rather than a realistic depiction of a place, her paintings evoke the remembrance of a moment, combining observation with imagination.

While Susan's initial inspiration is the outside world, it is merely reference material for communicating her own visceral experience of a fleeting view.  She grasps what is essential, distilling the shapes, colors and images into an evocative and engaging experience. This process then opens a portal to a quiet and reflective space for mindful contemplation.

Susan will be at the opening to discuss her work and speak with visitors. Her stunning exhibit is best seen up close and in person, so don't miss your chance to view her work - which you might just fall in love with!
