"Anger and helplessness can be a great motivator. Due to the messiness in today’s society, I find it necessary to express my anger and helplessness in my art works. Examples of this messiness are companies that disregard the earth by manufacturing and producing harmful ingredients in our food chain; companies pushing drugs; the political maelstrom; greed everywhere and the biggie- violence. Violence is everywhere, especially high here in Chicago where I live. The above examples are some of the sources which motivate my work. For these particular works I chose to deal with violence. The rocks symbolize the earth and the bullet casings represent violence. The rocks may seem like an unusual object to represent violence but so is the absurdity of random killings. By making these works I’m expressing a need while hoping to make people aware of the insidious problem of violence by taking pro-active actions."
