Zolla/Lieberman Gallery is proud to present Veil, Drape, and Stitch, a group exhibition curated by Ruth L. Poor.

“The persisting relationship between textiles and our everyday lives is almost innumerable. From the worldly embrace of our clothing to the veiling of holy objects, uses range from the sacred to the profane. The work in this show represents physical, conceptual, and illusionary representations of fibers. Some artists have chosen the proliferation of patterns and repetition in cloth. Others have rummaged through perceived scraps and incorporated them through the treasure of quilt-making. Painted presentations range from dramatic draping like the grand weight of theater curtains to sheer, voluminous shrouds. Embroidery artists use stitching to tell time, embellish, or emphasize the piercing of woven structures. Our expansive range of use and relationship to cloth can be used to comfort, bind, and exalt (et al.) in the same ways the artists chosen for this exhibition have represented the life of textiles.” - Ruth L.
