The West Town Chamber of Commerce is excited to unveil the West Town Art Walk 2024, a dynamic annual celebration of the neighborhood’s thriving artistic and business communities. Taking place from Friday, October 4 through Sunday, October 6, 2024, this year’s event has been expanded to three days to give attendees more time to experience the creative community that defines Chicago’s emerging gallery district. As the annual celebration grows in popularity, so do the number of participants, activations and attendees, calling for another day to be added to the event.
Founded in 2011, the West Town Art Walk has become a cornerstone event for the community, showcasing the diverse mix of artists, galleries, and local businesses that shape West Town’s unique cultural landscape. This free, open-path event invites visitors to explore the neighborhood’s creative scene and enjoy special promotions, one-night-only events and openings, live art making and more. Attendees are also encouraged to take self-guided tours of the more than twenty public murals around the West Town neighborhood.
From galleries and vintage stores to specialty retail and restaurants, the West Town Art Walk offers a chance to engage with West Town’s vibrant art in all its forms. Visitors can take their time, wandering through storefronts and public spaces that reflect the neighborhood’s dynamic blend of creativity and commerce. The Valley of Cathedrals, a show of works on paper by Ukrainian Village resident Duncan Robert Anderson, will also be on view at the West Town Chamber of Chamber’s headquarters at 1819 W Chicago Ave. Duncan’s work is the latest to be displayed as part of the Chamber’s Member Exhibition Space program which offers members short term access to gallery space to expand their programming and visibility surrounding their offerings. The Valley of Cathedrals exhibition will be on view through Sunday, October 6, and the Chamber will host an all-day closing reception on Saturday, October 5.
Further, the West Town Art Walk 2024 aligns with Chicago Exhibition Weekend (CXW), a citywide event highlighting Chicago's vibrant commercial gallery scene featuring exhibitions, programs and special events throughout the city from October 3-6, 2024. West Town Art Walk 2024 will take place at participating businesses on Friday, October 4 from 5p-8p, Saturday, October 5 from 10a-6p, and Saturday, October 6 from 10a-6p. Printed guides that highlight the spots to visit and the programming being presented will be available at every participating business.
