Galvin Recital Hall, 70 Arts Circle Dr Evanston, IL 60208Through the perspectives of four artists with connections to Zhegagoynak, the exhibition Woven Being: Art for Zhegagoynak/Chicagoland (January 25-July 13, 2025) explores confluences that continue to shape Indigenous creative practices in the region and beyond.
Join us for a day of celebration honoring the artists and Chicagoland's Indigenous art histories and vibrant futures.
12:00-1:30pm – Open Galleries and Activities
Drop by the Block Museum in the early afternoon to explore the galleries, enjoy children's hands-on activities, and visit our Community Room.
2:00-3:30pm – Keynote Talk, Galvin Recital Hall
The opening keynote will celebrate the contributions of collaborating exhibition artists. Kelly Church (Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Tribe of Pottawatomi/Ottawa), Nora Moore Lloyd (Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe), and Jason Wesaw (Pokagon Band of Potawatomi) will be in in dialogue with Jordan Poorman Cocker (Kiowa), Woven Being Terra Foundation Guest Co-Curator. 4:00-6:00pm – Public Reception, Norris Student Center
Following the keynote, join us next door in the Louis Room of the Norris University Center (1999 Campus Drive, 2nd floor) for light refreshments and conversation. The museum will remain open until 6 PM.
