Que Syrah Syrah!

New Year's Eve (December 31st) from 8 PM to 1 AM

Wine Tasting:

Try various varietals of the Syrah (or Shiraz) and Grenache grapes--many bottles will be mixtures of the two.

Guests may purchase wine by the glass or by the bottle. Taste a range of flavors -- from fruity and floral to savory and peppery.

I will offer guests to explore some my favorites:

  • Anne Pichon Sauvage: Syrah-Grenache, 2021, from a family-owned vineyard on the slopes of the Ventoux Mountains in the Southern Rhone Valley, 2021. 80% Syrah, 20% Grenache. Cherry balsamic notes with a peppery palate.

  • Gerard Bertrand Chateau La Sauvageonne, 2021. It has a jammy nose and lively spice. Taste subtle hints of gingerbread and cherries.

  • Beja Syrah Walla Walla Valley, Washington, 2018. Comforting flavors of creme brulee and peppercorns. Taste berries, plums, and blood orange.

  • Chateau Paul Mas "Clos de Mures" Languedoc, France. 85% Syrah, and the rest Grenache. Gently spiced with a palate of cherries, herbs and peppercorns. Complex aromas of cocoa and coffee. Full-bodied and opulent.
