The main focus of the Food For Thought Exhibition is to heighten awareness of food insecurity.&nbsp;At least half of all proceeds will go directly to the C and W Foundation, an Evanston-based nonprofit that provides essential access to groceries.&nbsp;The still life genre illustrates portraits of edible subjects that tell stories of meals shared, community, and breaking bread together. This communal ritual is&nbsp;celebrated in paintings of food made from direct observation, which reveal tangible, poetic symphonies of color, shape and texture.&nbsp;&nbsp;Artists: Sheila Cahnman, John Fleck, Ken Minami, Sarah Kaiser-Amaral, David Roberts and Chunbo Zhang.&nbsp;

Food For Thought Exhibition 

The Grove Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located in Downtown Evanston, IL.The focus of the gallery is on painting, drawing and printmaking. The emphasis is on building community, and hosts several fundraisers a year in which revenue from art sales are directed toward various environmental and social causes. In 2024, the Grove Gallery opened in Evanston. Impressionistic and Surrealist landscape paintings and prints are available for purchase by both emerging and established artists from the Midwest. Environmental Update: the State of the Great Lakes

﻿Painters capture the essence of water. Reflect upon the abstract shapes of color and light that shimmer on the surface. Artists in this exhibition blur the lines between representational and abstract approaches. They are open to seeing beyond the horizon, and are keenly aware of subtle shifts in color temperature, mood and atmosphere. Like the weather, the work conveys a variety of moods, which ranges from tranquil and calm to stormy. This exhibition addresses the fragile relationship humans have with water, our most precious natural resource. The AI Controversy

The “Inside/Out” Exhibition at the Grove Gallery in Evanston, IL&nbsp;explores concepts of the window as metaphor. Windows, whether open or closed, represent dualities: freedom vs. constraint, order vs. chaos, and possibility vs. limitation. The window metaphor sets up narrative elements that address boundaries. In some cases, the viewer is outside, looking in. Conversely, the perspective may be from indoors, looking up and out into the horizon. Some paintings are rooted in fantasy, with colorful, surreal characters freely floating in space. Others are purely depictions of light-filled rooms, with curtains billowing in the breeze. The layered meanings within each picture plane keeps viewers guessing, projecting their own narratives onto each scene. A picture window creates the illusion of depth, whether with pure color or with linear perspective.
