Perspective Gallery is proud to present a show by photographers William Harper and Kaushik Sunder Rajan.
Harper’s work titled The Path of Line explores lines in nature as paths. Harper writes, "A path is taken or made and leaves a trace: the line. These photographs and videos use various photographic techniques to observe and record these marks. The recordings show a close relationship between the flight paths of birds and airplanes; the expression of plant growth, lightning, and fractures of decay; the building of roads and the formation of stream beds. Each line illustrates a relationship to time, space, nature, and to individual and group histories, necessities and propensities.
Sunder Rajan’s work, titled Time is Caught Between Breath and Mourning, explores themes of loss and remembrance by attending to the ephemerality of everyday encounters, and the moments of pause and reflection they engender. He explains, "They are about interludes, punctuations, memories. About spaces of intimacy, and traces of others that haunt me. About learning to live in the moment and learning to live with ghosts. They are a way of coming to terms with loss, but also of taking the time to breathe. About refusing to let time simply be a number or a measure that passes us by."
