Jiseon, who currently serves as the provost of Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, will step into the role that will be vacated by Elissa Tenny upon her retirement.Jiseon, the second woman to serve as president in SAIC’s 158-year history, comes to the School with extensive experience in higher education and the arts. MoCP's highly-anticipated annual <a href="https://giving.colum.edu/s/1871/bp22/interior.aspx?sid=1871&amp;pgid=1750&amp;gid=2&amp;cid=5038&amp;ecid=5038&amp;post_id=0">DARKROOM</a> is an occasion for collectors, photographers and gallerists to gather to support and raise money for the museum's exhibitions as well as education and community engagement programs.Last year's spring party saw 300 attendees and offered works by more than 45 artists, such as Krista Franklin, Marshall Brown and Guanyu Xu. The sale of works of art auctioned off raised more than $275,000 for the MoCP.DARKROOM always features notable artists and art world figures who have made a difference not just to MoCP but to the wider cultural community. This year Dawoud Bey is to receive the Silver Camera Award. Each year, the Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition presents more than 100 works of art from professional and emerging Black artists from throughout the U.S. There is a general category, Works by Black artists age 18 or older, and a teen category, Black artists under 18 OR in grades 9-12.The Museum of Science and Industry’s annual Black Creativity program invites students, teachers, families and the public to explore the legacy of rich contributions and achievements made by African Americans while encouraging deeper interest in science and technology among youth.This longest-running exhibition of African American art has been displayed annually at MSI since 1970.
