Fall is a busy season of art, offering new gallery and museum exhibitions. the Art world figures working hard behind the scenes give us so much to look forward to. we spoke to five (technically six this time!) art community figures about what they’re excited about now and looking forward to next.
The following preview is one of five conversations that appear in our fall 2024 magazine. To receive a copy of the print edition click here.

“While enjoying the summer, we were preparing for our busiest months of the year, September and October. We wrapped up an important group exhibition, Palimpsest, which brought together our gallery artists with renowned Chicago-based artists McArthur Binion, Bethany Collins, Michael Rakowitz, and Edra Soto—pillars of the local art scene. Their associated galleries—Rhona Hoffman, PATRON, and GRAY—have graciously contributed works to the show. At the opening, someone remarked that Palimpsest is a true love letter to the city, a sentiment I wholeheartedly agree with.
In late August we unveiled a solo exhibition by Chicago-based artist Leasho Johnson, on view through the end of October. Johnson’s show will be part of Chicago Exhibition Weekend (CXW), hosted by Gertie and EXPO Chicago, an event we are eagerly anticipating for another year. Last year’s CXW was a beautiful moment for the city, and I am confident this year’s program will be even more robust.”
